PIA S007 - Sub-duct and Cable Installation
The PIA S007: Sub-Duct and Cable Installation course is a two-day program designed to provide specialized training in the installation of sub-ducts and cables within telecom infrastructure. Participants will learn industry-standard techniques for safe and efficient installation, focusing on regulatory compliance, best practices, and safety measures. This course is ideal for professionals in the telecom field, delivering practical, hands-on experience guided by industry experts.
About This Course
This assessment will involve a questionnaire to test the delegates knowledge of sub-duct/cable installation in the Openreach underground network and the completion of a "live" installation job to the correct quality standard. This will be completed in a live or simulated situation utilising the current methodology employed by the CP to install their sub-duct and/or cable. This can be mechanised or manual. A CP cable shall be installed in a minimum of 2 duct sections (3 x Joint boxes) containing Openreach network cabling.
Questionnaire and Practical
Content
This assessment will involve a questionnaire to test the Delegate’s knowledge of Underground (UG) cable/sub-duct installation in line with current
Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) Engineering Principles.
Practical
The requirement is to ensure the Delegate has a good working knowledge
of the Openreach network and the safe working practices when carrying out cabling activities. The Delegate will provide a CP fibre cable or sub-duct between a minimum of 3 jointing chambers and restrain and label the cable/sub-duct in line with the requirements laid out in CP10. This will be completed in a live situation or simulated at a Training Centre.
